Art has always been an important part of Rex’s life. Ten years ago he retired from teaching to pursue art full time. He has always chosen a self directed approach to art and is constantly learning from workshops, books, DVD’s and fellow artists. He has been influenced through his studies with Brian Atyeo, Stephen Quiller and Mike Svob. He is known for his bold and imaginative approach to colour and value and for imbuing each work with a strong sense of narrative.
He is sought after as a teacher of art and has been praised for his ability to bring the art out of anyone.
“In my art I’m constantly trying to capture a personal impression of my subject. What I love most about art is that that impression continues to grow and evolve. It’s a journey that constantly pulls me forward.”
