This is another scene from our recent trip to Toronto.  The Kensington Market area.

An interesting challenge in this painting was to paint the graffiti.  It was a little complicated but it was also a wonderful opportunity to play with colour.

Hi Rex I really felt a lot of action in this painting. You captured the feeling of a ‘happnin time’. Love the colours, wires, people on the roof, car windows….candy for the eye. Nice

Well fancy meeting you here. Thanks for the comment. I just finished it last night and I wasn’t sure what I thought about it. I also loved the colours etc. I pleased that you felt that it captured a moment. Rex

Wow! Your work is just getting better and better (and it was lovely before!). I’m not sure what this says about me, but your alley pictures are amongst my favorites… Very interesting and confident colour choices here – feels new to me. The turquoise/orange combo is great. And I want to know the back story on the roof people too!

Thanks Shelley. I also like these little ‘back-of-the-house’ scenes. It might be because they are more real in a sense, not our public face. The people were an added element. I can no longer do a scene without putting the human element in. Rex
