    I really like this painting Rex. I like the large/fluid shapes. I like that there’s not too much fine detail with small paint brush strokes. Somehow the light/colour story is also really intriguing. It looks like that “magic light” time in early evening, which gives it an interesting narrative, given the subject matter.

    I’ve also been enjoying the negative space flower paintings – they have a different quality than some of your other flower paintings. They have reminded me somehow of the mantra my watercolour painting teacher tried to instill in us: back to front, light to dark, general to detail (paraphrased, as I don’t remember he exact terms).

    Can’t wait to see more.

      Thanks Shelley. This is a very new approach for me and I know I’m biased but I love it. There is definitely a whole bunch of stuff to be explored in this direction. Your watercolour teacher has summed up pretty much what watercolour is all about.
